This contest was open to writers, researchers, and historians alike, who authored articles and short stories which promote, generate, and rekindle interest in history and its many valuable lessons. Acceptable history themes ranged from recorded historic events, explanation of historic events, biography, narrative, comedic, historical concerns, or other themes.
Entries could be written in any style, fiction or non-fiction, in two categories: American Civil War or General History.
